Day 164: Kitchen Cabinets, Lighting and Trim

The Garage back door was installed so the siding was finished on that side

The back deck base was painted. It's a Traditional Cape Cod Gray. Trying to make it light so it doesn't get too hot but still stay with our grey theme on the outside. I think I'll paint all the vertical sides white when we move in for some contrast.

Most of the Kitchen cabinets were put in today!

Jess was out putting in some lighting fixtures. He texted me during the day and said he needed light bulbs when I got a minute. We picked some up tonight and delivered them out there. But then I got thinking- Why exactly am I buying lightbulbs?  I don't even own the house yet. They were going to sell it to me dark? I don't think so. Buggy! Oh well! Chalk it up to my house building learning experience.

 Some trim was put in the rooms where there will be carpet.

 

It was another late night out at the Property working on railing and the beadboard for the Powder room. The kids kept themselves busy with the bubble machine from our Summer Treasure Box.

We did get the another wall of the beadboard up and I painted 2 of the walls. They look awesome!!! We still need the door frame in before we can finish on the walls. Then we'll add trim. It is beautiful!!!

Day 163: Shower Trim & Sanded Floors

I hadn't really notice until the Paynes pointed it out but they haven't sided this part of the garage. The reason is that they haven't put the door up yet and they need to butt the siding to the door trim. Hopefully this week.

Scott must have been out this morning because there was new pipe stuff in the laundry room.

 And the Shower trim stuff was installed in the upstairs showers.

I forgot to mention yesterday that they sanded down all the floors upstairs to prep for the flooring.

Unfortunately, they uncovered all the vents for it. We don't understand that??? They better clean them out really good cuz that just seems dumb. See the big glob of mud down this one? Seems like common sense that you'd avoid that mess down there.

I wanted to document how the windows look after he wrapped them. Chuck is supposed to add some white trim to the bottom.

Last but not least... We took down our supports in the Powder Room when we stopped by today. Isn't it going to look amazing? There will trim on the top and the bottom. 

Day 162: Flooring, Rock Collecting and into the Night

One of our cabinet boxes was open. This is the upper corner cabinet. Beautimus!

They started on some flooring. We love it! Although they started into the hallway which they aren't supposed to. I texted Chuck to make sure they don't go any further. We didn't realize that the flooring was going under the cabinets but I guess it is?

It will be interesting to see how they give us access to our gas line for our BBQ since it's under our deck?

We have to decide where to put the stairs on our back deck. Here's my idea:

In order to do some landscaping and possibly mow down all the weeds, Brett asked the kids to use the go-kart hauling his new dump cart to collect rocks. They collected 300  rocks today. Pretty impressive.

Brett and I stayed WAY late into the night to get beadboard up in the Powder Room so that they can get the toilet and the pedestal sink in there this week. We left it like this to dry. I'm excited! We'll finish the other walls later.

P.S. The house across the street sold. This cute little family bought it and moved in this week. Jonathon came and introduced himself. His wife is Emily? (we think) and they have 2 little girls. We are so excited to get in the house and plan a couple Block Parties! Wahoo!

Day 161: Paint and Let there be Light! Plus Deck

They are working hard out on faith Lane. It's coming together quickly. {not as quick as I'd like ;) but I love to see the progress.}

In the garage, we saw that they delivered our garage doors- one to the house and one to the backyard. It's kind of buggy because when I went to pick out doors with Chuck at PowerTownsend, we had ordered 3' doors because they were cheaper. The idea of having larger doors grew on us and we were excited. But Chuck must have forgot or already had the headers made because they made the openings only 2' 8" instead. Chuck had to get new doors ordered to fit and now we get smaller door openings. Oh well! {Side note- the garage doors are taking forever to get here. Chuck said he ordered them but there was a mis-communication. Either way, we've been without them but hopefully they will be here next week.}
Also, Jess labeled all the electrical box and put lights in the garage and the utility room.

Tada! Let there be light!!!!

Inside, they got everything painted. There's still touch-up but the upstairs is finished. I had to beg for white ceilings in the living room/kitchen. The rest of the house was just sprayed one color. But I figured that I can reach the ceilings in all the other rooms if I really want them white later. This room would have been a beast to change later. I'm glad I did it. 

Downstairs it looks like all the trim is painted.

In the back, they have the framework for the deck done. Awesome! We love how big it is! A perfect place for a backyard BBQ at the Seamons!

A few little glitches along the way-
There are a few mudding spots that look like crap. Or... are we just really picky? Granted there are only a couple compared to the spec house disaster we encountered earlier but still! We told them not to paint until we checked but they didn't. Guess we'll have to have them fix them and then paint those areas again. Bug!
Also, they sprayed paint on the master shower. Oops! Hope that comes off. And the paint got ripped from the edges. That should be fixed in the touch up, I guess.

We have a bit of a sink hole happening on the east side of the house.That'll have to be remedied quickly.

Day 160: Paint Primer

 It rained ALOT today. More puddles to document:

We tried to go in and see the work done today but everything was stapled shut. We could hear fans running probably drying the Primer. We did manage to stick the camera through a small rip in the plastic. Here's what we captured:

Out back, it looks like they delivered the supports for our back deck. It will be cool to see that get moving IF it ever stops raining! Grrrr!

The kids and I picked up the last things we were storing at the Paynes. They have been so nice to let us stick things there. We were just going to deliver them to the house and stick them in the basement. Since we couldn't get in we just left our Stove vent and our bar stools in the garage. Hope there still there tomorrow. ;)

Day 159: Mud Done and Cabinets & Flooring Delivered

They sided the east side of the house. And more of the frame work for the front porch was put together.

It looks like Darvin has all the mudding & texture done. I think that means they will prime it all tomorrow if it's dry.

June is the rainiest month in Helena. We've got tons of rain. Here's my documentation of the puddles. Hopefully we can add some dirt there before we close.

Day 158: Doors Delivered & Windows Wrapped

Sorry for crappy pictures. I forgot my camera and it was getting dark.

Our inside doors were delivered.

Here's our french doors for the den.

They finally covered all the vents in the rooms upstairs.

They did decide to wrap the windows so they got most of them started today. All the walls except the ones with windows have been textured. I couldn't get a good picture with my phone.

Liberty and I stopped an picked up our "stone" (tile) for the fireplace. I like it! {It was way windy and wet out there tonight!!}

Also Brett was cutting balusters to their right height. I think they are perfect but to quote Brett- "You are all midgets!" {He thinks it is too short because he's soooo tall}
