Day 181: Almost done??

We went out early this morning to meet with Darvin, the painter to voice our concerns. We walked through the hosue together and pointed out some things we'd like fixed. We feel a lot better about the painting part, at least. He explained that he doesn't want to do the touchup paint until they stop creating dust, clean up and aren't moving big things that will ding everything up. But he's starting to mark things to fix with his blue tape and he wants to come back out Mon or Tuesday and finish it all up. Then he guarantees his work for a year. So he'll get it looking good next week and then will even come back after we move in to fix stuff we see later. We really like him. He's got some amazing customer service skills.

People started getting there to work before we left. At least some people are still working hard to get our place done, right?

When we went back this evening, here's what got done:
Made stairs for the garage entry

Here's what my laundry looks like. No counter space. :( There's supposed to be crown molding on the top and a back splash. I'll have to call Dustin tomorrow. Maybe he's coming back to finish things tomorrow anyways. But speaking of Dustin- I do have to say- that man makes a mean mitered corner. Wowzers! He's so good at those things!!! They look like they came that way! Amazing!

A lot of door handles got put on. Although the back door's deadbolt doesn't work right. Brett told me to be patient- "They'll fix it." Grr! When??? I just want it done right the first time. There's not any more "laters"--- Just "get it done now"s. LOL

Downstairs carpet got laid.

Downstairs vanity is in.

Here's what the seams between the different floorings turned out like: Pretty happy with them. Fred did a great job on the flooring.

Here's the vents they installed upstairs.

Dustin put the quarter round trim in under the stair trim. On the one under the railing, they'll just caulk it an paint it nice.

Looking good but not done enough to do the inspection or the final appraisal. Guess sinks and toilets are essential? LOL
That means Scott never came out today.
Also Max didn't make it out there to do the final grading either.

Tomorrow?
Are we ever gonna get in our new home?

While we were back out there tonight, Tim- the heating guy was out there. He's a nice guy. He explained some things and gave us a heads up about things we should do before we finish the basement to be ready for an air conditioner. (If we ever have the money for that.;)
Jason also came back out  hang more door handles.
There are definitely some hard working people on the job.

But I still wish it was done faster. One Hundred and eighty-one days from closing on the lot [not to mention the two months before that having already picked out a builder] is a long time to wait for a house while being stuck in an itty bitty apartment with no air conditioning, one bathroom and SIX people!! Sigh!
